The Campaign Committee is made up of dedicated and respected individuals with strong ties to Camp OAC and the broader Okanagan community. Committee members bring a diverse range of experience, leadership, and relationships, united by a shared passion for Camp OAC’s mission and a deep commitment to rebuilding the magic of camp for future generations.
As ambassadors for the campaign, committee members play a vital role in providing strategic guidance, supporting fundraising efforts, expanding community engagement, and championing the vision of Camp OAC. Through their leadership, advocacy, and personal commitment, they help build momentum, inspire confidence among donors and supporters, and ensure the campaign continues to move forward successfully. Together, they are helping create a lasting legacy where future campers can experience the same sense of belonging, growth, and community that has defined Camp OAC for more than 75 years.
Ian Dixon has served as Camp Director for Camp OAC for the past eight years. Since the McDougall Creek Wildfire, Ian has been leading and working alongside our amazing team of volunteers, staff, donors, and community members to help rebuild Camp OAC for the future.
Camp OAC has had a profound impact on Ian’s life, and he believes deeply in the role it plays in helping young people grow in confidence, faith, friendship, and connection to nature. He is proud to be part of the Rebuild Camp OAC Campaign Committee, helping ensure future generations can experience the same sense of belonging, adventure, and community that has shaped Camp OAC for more than 75 years.
Donna Zukowski’s commitment to Camp OAC spans more than 35 years of volunteer leadership and service. Over the decades, she has served in numerous roles, including Chairperson, Board Director, Treasurer, Fundraiser, Camp Nurse, and Program and Staffing Lead. Through these experiences, she has witnessed firsthand the profound impact Camp OAC has had on children, families, and volunteers.
Camp OAC has been an integral part of Donna’s family story. Her three sons grew up as campers, staff members, and volunteers, creating meaningful family memories and experiences. In 2023, Camp OAC welcomed her grandchildren as campers, highlighting the camp’s intergenerational impact. Camp OAC has fostered lifelong friendships, a strong sense of community, and values of service and leadership that continue to guide her family today.
As Campaign Chair for the Rebuilding the Magic of Camp campaign, Donna is honoured to provide leadership and fundraising oversight for this transformational initiative. She is deeply committed to Camp OAC’s long-term mission and to rebuilding a place where future generations can experience the same sense of belonging, growth, and community that has enriched the lives of so many families, including her own.
Deborah McGovern’s journey and love of Camp OAC began as a child in the 1960s and spans three generations. Deborah’s parents were patrons of St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Revelstoke, and were highly involved volunteers at Camp OAC. Yearly trips to Camp OAC were the highlight of the summer for her and her five siblings. During the 1980s her family became members of St. Michael's and All Angels Cathedral in Kelowna. Her children attended Camp OAC yearly and also became camp leaders. She hopes her grandchildren will be able to attend as well, continuing on the family tradition. She and her husband Brian became involved as volunteers with Camp OAC, helping with fundraising efforts, camp maintenance, the family camps as well as serving on the board.
In her role as Communication Chair, Deborah will help ensure that there is open communication throughout the Rebuilding the Magic of Camp campaign between volunteers, staff, faith communities and the public. She will support keeping all parties informed regarding updates during the campaign and ensuring that any frequently asked questions about the rebuild process are answered.
Deborah is proud to support the Rebuild the Magic of Camp campaign once again, helping preserve a place that has meant so much to her family for generations to come.
Howard Soon has long been passionate about supporting young people and helping build the future of the church. Alongside his wife, Wendy, he served as a youth group leader at St. Michael’s and has dedicated much of his life to mentoring and supporting the next generation. As a parent of four children and grandparent to six grandchildren, Howard deeply understands the importance of creating spaces where young people can grow, connect, and thrive.
As Quiet Phase Co-Chair, Howard believes Camp OAC plays a vital role in helping youth in the Kootenays become the best they can be. In his role on the Fundraising Committee, he is focused on securing the campaign’s initial leadership gifts, primarily through personal outreach and one-on-one conversations beginning in 2027. Howard is inspired by the campaign’s mission to rebuild Camp OAC, believing its purpose is rooted in doing good for others and confident that this shared vision will inspire strong community support.
Andy Griffin grew up in the Okanagan and deeply appreciates how fortunate we are to call this region home. He believes every child should have the opportunity to experience the outdoors firsthand through places like Camp OAC.
Andy’s connection to Camp OAC is personal as his wife and grandchildren have all been involved as campers and staff. He understands the important role camp plays in the lives of young people, often providing one of their first opportunities to be away from home in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
Through shared adventures, play, and meaningful connections, Camp OAC helps create memories and friendships that last a lifetime. In his role on the Fundraising Committee, Andy is committed to supporting the campaign through relationship-building and community outreach. He is inspired by the vision of rebuilding Camp OAC and the lasting impact it has on young people and families. Andy believes strongly in the camp’s ability to foster confidence, connection, and lifelong memories, and is confident the community will rally behind this important effort.
With more than 40 years of involvement at Camp OAC, Heather Comba has served in many roles, including Camp Mom, Summer Director, Board Member, Hiring Committee member, and even supporting maintenance and kitchen duties—always stepping in wherever help was needed.
Through her decades of service, Heather has seen firsthand the exceptional experience Camp OAC offers to everyone who attends. She believes camp fosters a strong sense of community, creates lifelong friendships, and provides a place where goodness and connection flourish.
In her current role, Heather supports the campaign through receiving and reporting, helping ensure the continued progress of efforts to rebuild the magic of Camp OAC.
Donna Lloyd has been involved with Camp OAC for 35 years, serving in many capacities, including volunteering at summer camps, serving on the Camp OAC Board, and now working alongside a dedicated team on the Rebuild the Magic of Camp campaign.
She currently serves as Reporting and Receiving Co-Chair and Deputy Treasurer Co-Chair. In her Reporting and Receiving role, Donna ensures all donor contacts and volunteer visits are accurately tracked and communicated to campaign leadership. As Deputy Treasurer, she works alongside Treasurer, Rick Buchanan, to carefully and confidentially manage the flow of gifts and pledge commitments received throughout the campaign.
Donna looks forward to being part of the new Camp OAC and seeing children return to experience the magic of camp, creating the same cherished memories that so many have enjoyed over the years.
Cathy has previously worked with M&M International on the “Together in Mission” campaign for the Diocese of Kootenay and has once again volunteered her time to support the Camp OAC campaign, this time serving as Public Phase Co-Chair. In this role, she will help engage parishes across the Diocese by recruiting and training ambassadors, coordinating more than 100 visits, and maintaining volunteer momentum throughout this high-engagement phase, alongside Co-Chair Shea Maclean. Cathy and Shea are both well known throughout the Diocese for their leadership and involvement.
Cathy also serves on Diocesan Council, Provincial Council, and is a member of the Provincial Eco-Justice Committee. A member of St. George’s Church in West Kelowna, she will be ordained as a Vocational Deacon for the parish this September.
The Right Reverend Lynne McNaughton is the tenth Bishop of Kootenay in the Diocese of Kootenay within the Anglican Church of Canada, and formerly served as the 13th Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia and Yukon.
She was elected Bishop of Kootenay in January 2019 at the Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels and was consecrated and installed in May 2019. In 2021, she was elected Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia and Yukon, a role that carries the title of Archbishop, before stepping down in 2024 to focus on her work within the Diocese of Kootenay.
Bishop McNaughton is deeply committed to fostering faith, gratitude, and spiritual reflection. She emphasizes the importance of community, awe in creation, and helping young people develop practices of thankfulness and belonging. She has also spoken about the value of Camp OAC as a place where children experience caring community, develop confidence, and are given space to grow into new ways of being, free from the expectations and pressures of their everyday environment.
Rick Buchanan serves as Treasurer for the Camp OAC campaign, a role that sits at the intersection of financial integrity and donor stewardship. He has been involved in managing the Camp OAC books for over a year, providing valuable continuity and experience for the camp’s financial oversight. Alongside the Deputy Treasurer, he oversees the careful and confidential flow of all gifts and pledge commitments received throughout the campaign, ensuring that every contribution is accurately recorded, acknowledged, and reported.
In this role, Rick works closely with the Campaign Committee, M&M International, and the Administrative Officer to support accurate reporting and strong financial oversight throughout the campaign. The Deputy Treasurer supports these functions during the active campaign period, with the expectation that gift recording and reporting will transition to Camp OAC staff or diocesan administration after the first year.
