Camper Assistant

(formerly Camp Parent volunteer position)

Well suited for an retired person or an adult who would like to help us out.

This person would stay on-site and help out with children's activities.

We would need volunteers for a one week (Monday to Friday)

Summer Staff Information

Spend this summer on the beautiful Okanagan Lake, in a wonderfully dynamic and fun community, making a difference in the lives of children! Owaissi Anglican Camp on Okanagan Lake in Kelowna, BC is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking staff to work in a variety of areas. Camp Owaissi runs an 7 week faith based program. Room and board is all included, and of course, you can't put a price on the experience you will gain, the resume you will build, the friends you will make, and the impact you will have on the children you work with.

Program Coordinator

Provides overall direction, supervision and training of all summer camp staff, volunteers (leads Spirit Day), program areas and activities during the summer camp season.

Must be at least 21 years old. Prefer 25. The applicant must have excellent organizational and leadership skills, be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate well to all age groups.

Works with the Program and Staffing team to develop and implement an age appropriate sports/adventure program that is integrated with the other programs at the Camp. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required. 

Must be at least 18 years old. Able to work cooperatively, team lead and have well developed organization skills. Must have knowledge of sport and adventure activities. Assist with other Camp duties under the direction of the program coordinator

 

14 Week Position (Grant Dependent)

Works with Program team to develop arts and crafts program. This position will also coorindate campfire activities and function as a member of the programing team

Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to supervise children and youth, develop program and work as a team member to implement all program.

Waterfront Director

Develops and supervises the camp waterfront program and activities during the summer camping season to the satisfaction of the Summer Director. Lifeguards all waterfront activities. First responder during emergencies. Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Lifeguard.

Must be at least 19 years old. The applicant must have Bronze Cross and current NLS, knowledge of water-based activities including swimming, canoeing and games, have excellent organizational and leadership skills and be able to supervise children.

Lifeguard

Assists the Waterfront Director in supervising the camp waterfront and activities during the summer camping season. Lifeguards all waterfront activities. First responder during emergencies. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required. Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Lifeguard.

Responsible for supervision of the kitchen, its operations, cleanliness and maintenance, within the standards of the Health Act of B.C. and to the satisfaction of the Program Coordinator and Camp Director. The applicant is also responsible for preparation of meals and snacks according to a pre-determined menu plan.

Must be at least 25 years old. The applicant must be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate to all age groups. Food Safe Course is required.

Cabin Leader

Lives in the cabins all summer providing supervision and a positive experience for all campers. Cabin/Youth leaders are the heart of Owaissi. They must be able to cultivate positive relationships with campers and provide a fun and safe environment. 

Must be at least 17 years old by July 1, 2018. Mature, experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting), able to enthusiastically assist summer staff with their duties
