  • $25 off Senior Camp Fees for each week you volunteer

  • Must attend orientation July 5-6, 2012
  • Receive a Letter of Recommendation

SUMMER STAFF INFORMATION

Spend this summer on the beautiful Okanagan Lake, in a wonderfully dynamic and fun community, making a difference in the lives of children! Owaissi Anglican Camp on Okanagan Lake in Kelowna, BC is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking staff to work in a variety of areas. Camp Owaissi runs an 7 week faith based program starting July 4, 2011 and ending August 20, 2011 and very camp-competitive salaries. Room and board is all included, and of course, you can't put a price on the experience you will gain, the resume you will build, the friends you will make, and the impact you will have on the children you work with.

Program Coordinator
Provides overall direction, supervision and training of all summer camp staff, volunteers, program areas and activities, and kitchen during the summer camp season to the satisfaction of the Camp Director. Must be at least 21 years old. Prefer 25. The applicant must have excellent organizational and leadership skills, be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate well to all age groups. Open
Sports Leader

Works with the Program and Staffing team to develop and implement an age appropriate sports program that is integrated with the other programs at the Camp. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required. Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Sports Leader.

Must be at least 18 years old. Must be CPR and First Aid certified. Able to work cooperatively, team lead and have well developed organization skills. Must have knowledge of team games and sports and work cooperatively with the waterfront team. Assist with other Camp duties under the direction of the Program Coordinator. Open
Waterfront Leader
Develops and supervises the camp waterfront program and activities during the summer camping season to the satisfaction of the Program Coordinator. Lifeguards all waterfront activities. First responder during emergencies. Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Lifeguard.
Must be at least 19 years old. The applicant must have Bronze Cross and current NLS, knowledge of water-based activities including swimming, canoeing and games, have excellent organizational and leadership skills and be able to supervise children. Open
Lifeguard
Assists the Waterfront Program Leader in supervising the camp waterfront and activities during the summer camping season. Lifeguards all waterfront activities. First responder during emergencies.Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required. Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Lifeguard. Must be at least 17 years old. Arts/Music Leader

Organizes the craft hut and supplies. Plans, organizes, and leads arts and crafts sessions. Teaches and leads campers and youth leaders in planning music and drama for worship sessions. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required .Performs miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Arts and Worship Leader.

** This position may be part time for 2012.

Must be at least 18 years old. Must be CPR and First Aid Certified. This applicant should have knowledge of drama and craft activities appropriate for camp aged children, lots of energy and be musically inclined. Applicant should also be able to organize and help campers plan worship and campfire services. Open
NEW! Drama/Music Leader

Camp Owaissi is looking for someone with strong leadership and organization abilities. This position requires the applicant to work closely with the program coordinator and they will be responsible for planning and implementing evening programs, including campfire. High energy leader needed!

** This position has the potential of being extended to a 14 week job. Dependent on grant approval.

Must be 18 or older and returning to university in fall 2012 for grant puposes. Able to work cooperatively, team lead and have organization skills. Assist with camp administrative duties. Musical skills required. Open
Camp Head Cook
Responsible for supervision of the kitchen, its operations, cleanliness and maintenance, within the standards of the Health Act of B.C. and to the satisfaction of the Camp Director. The applicant is also responsible for preparation of meals and snacks according to a pre-determined menu plan.
Must be at least 25 years old. The applicant must be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate to all age groups. Food Safe Course is required. Open
Assistant Camp Cook
Is responsible for assisting the cook in all related duties stated above.
Must be at least 18 years old. Applicant must be willing to take directions and follow instructions. Food safe course is required. Open
Kitchen Aide

Is responsible for assisting in the overall clean up of the kitchen area and assisting in meal preparation.
Must be at least 16 years old. Applicant must be willing to take directions and follow instructions. Food safe course is preferred but not mandatory.

Mature, experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting), able to enthusiastically assist summer staff with their duties Able to attend Youth leader Retreat (date to be determined).
