  • $25 off Senior Camp Fees for each week you volunteer
  • You pick the week(s) you volunteer
  • Receive a Letter of Recommendation
  • Earn volunteer hours for school

SUMMER LONG YOUTH LEADERS

  • Must be at least 16 years of age by summer
  • $800 stipend for summer
  • Work at camp the entire summer
  • Participate in Youth Leadership Training Program
  • Attend S.L.Y. Camp

  • Receive job training school credit

SUMMER STAFF INFORMATION

Spend this summer on the beautiful Okanagan Lake, in a wonderfully dynamic and fun community, making a difference in the lives of children! Owaissi Anglican Camp on Okanagan Lake is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, and hardworking staff to work in a variety of areas. Camp Owaissi runs an 8 week faith based program starting June 28, 2010 and ending August 29, 2010.  We offer a very camp-competitive salary. Room and board is all included, and of course, you can't put a price on the experience you will gain, the resume you will build, the friends you will make, and the impact you will have on children. Camp Owaissi 's programming is faith based in the Anglican tradition with age group camps. Activities offered are canoeing, kayaking, waterfront and field games, crafts, music, drama, special theme based programming, faith education, camp fire and skits. Team players who are enthusiastic, skilful in these areas and energetic about participating in all aspects of Camp life are welcome to apply. All positions require applicants demonstrate commitment to the Christian aims and purposes of the Camp

Program Coordinator
Provides overall direction, supervision and training of the camp staff and camp programs and activities during the summer camp season to the satisfaction of the board of Directors. The applicant must have excellent organizational and leadership skills, be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate well to all age groups. Filled
Sports Leader Works with the Program and Staffing team to develop and implement an age appropriate sports program that is integrated with the other programs at the Camp. Must be able to work cooperatively, team lead and have well developed organization skills. Must have knowledge of team games and sports and work cooperatively with the waterfront team. Assist with other Camp duties under the direction of the Program Coordinator. Filled
Waterfront Leader
Will develop and supervise the camp waterfront program and activities during the summer camping season with, and to the satisfaction of the Summer Camp Director.
The applicant must have Bronze Cross and current NLS, knowledge of water-based activities including swimming, canoeing and games, have excellent organizational and leadership skills and be able to supervise children. Still Open
Lifeguard
Will assist the Waterfront Program Director in supervising the camp waterfront and activities during the summer camping season and perform miscellaneous camp duties when not working specifically as a Lifeguard. The applicant must have Bronze Cross and current NLS, knowledge of water-based activities including swimming, canoeing and games, have excellent organizational and leadership skills and be able to supervise children. Arts and Worship Leader
Organizes the craft hut and supplies
Teaches and leads campers and youth leaders in planning music and drama for worship sessions. Team member in planning and implementing other programming when required.
This applicant should have knowledge of drama and craft activities appropriate for camp aged children, lots of energy and be musically inclined. Applicant should also be able to organize and help campers plan worship and campfire services. Filled
Camp Cook
Responsible for supervision of the kitchen, its operations, cleanliness and maintenance, within the standards of the Health Act of B.C. and to the satisfaction of the Camp Director. The applicant is also responsible for preparation of meals and snacks according to a pre-determined menu plan.
The applicant must be able to supervise and delegate authority and relate to all age groups. Food Safe Course is required. Still Open
Assistant Camp Cook
Is responsible for assisting the cook in all related duties.
Applicant must be willing to take directions and follow instructions. Food safe course is preferred but not mandatory. Filled
Kitchen Aide
Is responsible for assisting in the overall clean up of the kitchen area and assisting in meal preparation.

Youth Leaders
Youth leaders are the heart of Owaissi. They cultivate positive relationships with campers and provide a fun and safe environment. Youth leader training starts at 10am on Apr 17th and ends at 11am on Apr 18th.
